Our Research

Advancing humanities research and knowledge is central to our mission. We foster work that crosses disciplinary and departmental boundaries, both within the College of Humanities and across campus. We support faculty, graduate, and undergraduate research through residential fellowships, the Tanner Topics program, and a collaborative community where fellows and faculty can present, workshop, and celebrate their projects.

Research Fellowships
Internal and external faculty fellowships provide scholars with the time and support to conduct research that makes significant contributions to humanistic knowledge. Internal fellowships are awarded for one semester while external fellowships cover the academic year.
APPLY
Current Fellows
Fellows at the Tanner Center not only pursue their own projects, but also join a community of scholars. During the Spring semester, fellows workshop their papers alongside their peers in open discussion.
SEE FELLOWS
Tanner Labs
The Tanner Humanities Center invites proposals for Tanner Labs starting in Fall 2025. Tanner Labs are conceived as spaces for shared, interdisciplinary, and experimental work in the humanities. Labs will generate new experimental forms of advanced research and pedagogical practice, while fostering opportunities for engagement beyond departmental boundaries.
